i had a ryobi 1st that lasted half a day so took it back and changed it for a dewalt i paid about £30 for it, dont use it to dry your hair though.

Thanks for that chaps, will pop into maplins later today and take a look. Also nip into my local tool shop and see if they any dewalts on show or info.

I did see a cheap one in screwfix, but it did look a bit on the big side, and I must say I like the look and size of the one from maplins.

Same as Sintra I use a gas Kit

This one

Tried a diferent makes and types but the two superpro units I own have lasted well and are well over 10 years old ( I have two one for soldering and one for heatshrink alot easier and quicker when working at height than changing over bits and getting burnt fingers)

Thanks, I've been meaning to look for a small, portable heat gun to sell with our heat shrink tubing. I'll contact the manufacturer and see if I can stock them. And I'll let you know if I can supply them at a better price than Maplins... ;)

How many friends would you have if you could......;):D

I have a Rothenberger superfire MAPP gas torch as used by plumbers, its great for soldering large lugs on large cables, if i turn the regulator right down thn it can be used for heat shrink
