Heat pump + underfloor vat rate

I have just priced a job with an heat pump and 45sqm of underfloor heating in an extension. Another company has quoted for the job with vat @5% across the board while have charged it @5% for the hp work and 20% for the underfloor kit + labour. How are you guys charging vat on these jobs.

Yes, all at 5% as long as you are installing it all.

This is covered by HMRC VAT Notice 708 - HM Revenue & Customs

It specifically covers "heating systems" which is:

• heating systems (including radiators and controls, ducted warm-air systems, storage heaters and other wired in heating appliances, gas fires, underfloor heating and solar powered heating)
