Hello, new kitchen extension . New boiler going in the kitchen.
Can anyone let me know what is compulsory, i have a sub board going in soley for the kitchen, I know heat is required but what about mains carbon monoxide alarm..? Is one required ? Is a battery one on the wall survice or is one required at all?
Also smoke detector?
The kitchen has a huge open plan walk through so no door, what responsibility is on for a smoke detector.
Small house 2 bed.

Cheers.

The local building inspector is the best person to check with. Round my way they insist on them for all extensions..... but sometimes not actually in the extension but in the existing house - go figure. You will need a completion cert so make the call - most don't bite!

Basically it is your house, and nothing, unless specified by building control is compulsory....But for your own safety and peace of mind, I would consider fitting smoke detection in circulation areas, such as hallway and landing areas. And a heat detector in the kitchen. The good thing abaut Aico, is you can mix and match hard wired detection with radio detection. Therefore if your refitting the kitchen hard wire the heat & co detector, and use a radio bases in wired heat and smokes to save running cables else where. One note Co does not react like smoke, so detection is best mounted on a wall not a ceiling. Hope this helps
