What are you heatsinking would suggest you use a thermal transfer paste between the heatsink and the equipment can't make any other suggestions as your question is very vague

do you mean Heat sink or Heat Shrink?

Need to extend a switch drop for a light was going to use crimps and heat shrink

Heat stink lol,

You just crimp it the slide the heatshrink over it and use some form of hot air blower to heat shrink the heat shrink tightly over the crimp.

Here is a You tube vid not the best example but its pretty easy to do anyway, bearing in mind you will be crimping as well, put the heat shrink on to one side before crimping.
