After a lot of research i've decided to do an domestic electrical installation course with RF training which includes 17th edition and Part P. I checked out the facilities and it all seems ok. I know that to become an electrician to a good standard takes many hours of practice and hard work, but i'm hoping it will give me a good foundation to get started as i am too old to do an apprenticeship and also have a family to support. I would ideally like to be self- employed eventually and i am aware that i need to do the C&G Electrotechnical NVQ 2 and 3 to do commercial and industrial work. What is the best way to go once i've finished the course? Should i try and get on with an employer and work my way up while doing the NVQ at night school?
