Hi there,
I'm just new to this forum and I'm hoping to find help from anybody here.
I just moved to London a few months ago and starting working as a sparky mate with a company but I've found i like the work and would like to study and gain qualifications to become a registered and legit electrician but unfortunately I've miss the bus with a lot of college courses as many have started in september and are not willing to take anybody at this point in the year. Also i'm finding it very difficult to find any courses online which may start in January and alot of the courses which start periodically throughout the year need you to take quite a bit of time off of work to complete them and cost far more the courses which are in actual colleges such as Uxbridge or Nort West. I don't trust theses courses either as they say you will have your qualification within a few weeks which seems quite dodgy to me.
The company I work for is also pressuring me to be serious about undertaking being an electrician seriously which is adding a bit of pressure to find a course quickly.
I would be looking and hoping to start a course in January and the courses i would be looking for would be level 1, or 2 in electrical installation. Some websites say level 2 is the starting course while others say level 1 is which is a little confusing and ridiculous.
Could somebody please point me in the right direction or give me some links or phone numbers to some legit courses which may be starting in January or the near future but hopefully before September of next year.
Thanks for any help from anybody.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum.
I take it you have had a chat with the local collages? Have you had a search of this forum? There are lots of threads on people wanting to do courses. Hopefully you should be able to find some info from the search.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi ya i level 2 C&G 2365 the proper way to start, or if you are employed by a electrical company the C&G 2357 level 3 diploma is the way to go as this is the apprenticeship route, i would guess that the level 1 qualification is the peo (preforming engineering operations) and that will start in January but you dont want to do that as it will give you a bit of experience but it is not a recognised qualification, i did this course thinking it was the starting point only to find out it was a taster course and that i still needed to go onto the level 2 so dont do it just wait till September and start then it will be the best way.
