Hello, I am new member of these forums. I have been trying to install a new ceiling light but as usual I am struggling again. The problem I have is that even when the switch is off, the light stays on. I looked at the other ceiling light wiring and did exactly the same but it just doesn't work for me. I am uploading some pictures to show you guys maybe you can help me!

I suspect you've accidentally mixed up the wiring as you've been working on it. It's going to be difficult to identify what cable is what now without knowing how to use a tester and knowing what you're testing for and it's not the kinda thing it's possible to give step by step instructions on. If you wire this up wrong there's several things that could happen, the light staying on is the best case scenario, some incorrect permutations will result in flashing and banging and blown fuses or circuit breakers.

I'd suggest you should get assistance from someone that's competent to test this wiring and sort it out properly. For someone who's familiar with light circuit wiring and methods of testing it should only take a few minutes to do this safely as long as you don't cause damage by doing something dangerous in the mean time. If you state your location there may be a forum member who's local to you and willing to assist for a very fair price.

Or guess and get the missus to flick the switch!

Sorry uncle marv. Your advise has served him well.

Thanks for the Advise Marvo, I actually figured out the issue myself and managed to put the wires together properly! You may close this thread :)

Yes one wire nut will grab a wire but I will suggest an orange one because the wire is 14 gage wire for lighting.
