Help needed with a wiring issue for a fan!!!

Hi all,

Can anyone help? I've been asked by a customer if there is a way to vent his store room when it gets to a set temperature, he wants fan to kick in and vent then when it cools down again to stop venting as he is concerned with the running costs. I was wondering if i could achieve this by wiring a room thermostat up so one side has a perm 240 feed and outgoing/ signal side to the fan so it comes on and goes off as he has asked.

yep you will just need to wire it so it comes on at temp rise instead of the temp fall, through terminals 1 + 4 (I think).

I haven't had much to do with them so I will have to bleave you on the terminals. Do they all have 1 to 4 on them? Sorry to ask another question but is there anything I need to look out for when ordering it?

The roomstat will come with instructions and a wiring diagram!! (at least, Honeywell ones do anyway). Terminals 1 and 4 sounds right from memory. Don't forget the neutral for term 2.

Fan + roomstat - job jobbed!! It could only be simpler / better if there was a fan available with an inbuilt stat.

No sorry used , humisistat fans, run on fans , but never a temp controller fan ??

What could be simpler than a stat and a fan. Just don’t put the stat near the fan.

Make sure the stat is rated for 230V.

yea im problem going to get one from screw fix as they are matching everyone on price and beating them all on some things, Not to sure about the grow room site tho this job is just for a shop owner with a stock room with an ice machine, cctv and of course stock so its getting to hot with the door shut in there.

Just had a thought, along with not mounting the stat too near the fan. Make sure there is ventilation for air to enter the room. You can’t extract air if non can enter the room. It may sound daft, but I’ve seen it done.

I had the same thought Tony, you need an air source so you may have to put a vent in opposite(preferably) the fan

I have messaged the customer but he hasn't replied, telling him about being able to get air in the room. should be interesting as the door to the room is a fire door so another hole in the wall looks like it might be an option.
