Ive been doing a test on a large house which used to be commericial, he still has all the storage sheds at back etc as he's a tamacer. There is a 3 phase board and a dis board running from this, the tails have been split at some point and these feed 3 more boards in the house. From the look of it he's only using 2 of the phases, it is a very complicated setup (wish i had said no to it) any way there is no rcd protection so I thought the cheapest way would be to replace the main switch in each board with a rcd BS61008, trouble is they are Merlin Gerin multi9, 2 triple pole and 2 double pole and I would need at least 80amp 30ma. Is there an alternative to use ie would square D fit this

yes it is a pir and installed to 16th edition but to just rcd sockets would mean installing rcbo's which would be more expensive, i don't want to give him anything other than code 4s thats why iam putting things right as i go along

Ok i shall rephrase.

If it is a 16th edition installation then there is no need for RCD's on socket outlets except those that could be used for portable appliances outside the equipotential zone.

Code 4 applies to no RCD protection on socket outlets for general use, non mechanically protected cables >50mm in walls or partitions, circuits in bathrooms providing other conditions are met etc.

Have a read of the link i posted as you are giving yourself loads of extra work.
