Hi everyone again,

I really need to get some practical experience with testing.. I keep reading the books but its just not enough if you know what i mean? The chap I work for isnt any good at testing and gets someone else in to test our work but if im honest he does the test in about 10 mins and jumps back in his van again so i don't want to ask him.

Anyone in Newport or Bristol fancy having someone along? I've got my own van, testers and tools so more than happy to pop along and help out in return for hands on practice and plenty of answered questions.

any help would be gratefully received

You have all the gear and the books so why not knock yourself a rig up and do a bit till an offer comes your way. Nowt fancy, an old CU fit a flex and plug top to act as your supply cable. couple of MCB's and a RCD and wire a ring and a radial into it then play to your hearts content. Take a Zs reading at the socket outlet you plug your rig into, and this will be your Ze for the supply to your board. You can then start messing about with the circuits, putting cross connections, loose connections, adding spurs, etc etc in and seeing what effect it has on your dead testing. I know of a few lads who have done this and they have taught themselves a lot.

Cheers..........Howard
