came across this question today and was unsure

under the building regulations 2000, which projects are exempt from control?

a - the extension of a building by the addition at ground level of carport open on at least two sides

b - the provision or extension of a controlled service or fitting in or in connection with a building

c - work involving the underpinning of a building

d - the insertion of insulating material into the cavity wall of a building

Car port is exempt as this does not involve altering or changing the structure of the building IMO.

Hope that helps

Chris

thanks chriis

ive got a couple more if u don't mind answering them for me?

the installation of a ring final circuit is classed as a licensed fitting, building work or a defined service?

which one is notifiable under part p?

a connection of an electric gate to an existing circuit

or

the installation of pre assembled CE marked 12v down lighters in a bedroom.

The second one is the electric gate, not too sure on the first tbh, think it may be building work, maybe someone can clarify this for you.

The Domestic Installer (part p) exam should be closed book, if they do let you take summit in try the electricians guice to the building regulations, all the answers you'll need will be in there.

Cheers

If I remember correctly the part P or EAL VRQ is 20 questions closed book exam so nothing brought in with you. The 17th ed exam or 2382 is open book so you can have your OSG etc with you.

When I did the 17th exam the ONLY book we were allowed to take in was the BRB, OSG wasn't allowed. Also with the EAL it was totally closed book, 20 questions, I think 40 minutes if I remember correctly.

Matt for the part P exam concentrate on chaps 1 5 and 10 of building regs and know what each part of the building regs are ie part a part b part c etc.

That will get you a pass good luck
