Hi everyone
first post so please bear with me. I have been to a very large house today, with a lighting circuit above the ceiling wired in 1.5 t+e. the two switches that are old retractable dimmers wired in what appears to be very close to bell wire. Next to the consumer unit there appears to be a dimmer control unit. Has anyone come across these before? And what are they about? Mainly is the bell wire safe?

first check if the dimmers are elv. if so, bell wire or similar is OK as long as it will carry the current required, and if elv, should not be run with lv cables, unless it has the same insulation value.
