Help!! SINGLE 1 GANG DIMMER LIGHT SWITCH SCREWLESS.. How to connect???

I have just bought a Dimmer for my room, Also had rewiring done about 6 months ago I have 2 wires 1 blue 1 brown... I have tried to connect them to L1 and L2 which didnt work and now I have the blue in L1 and the brown in C... this works but the dimmer doesnt actually dim..!! Any helpwould be gratefull thanks

Brown C and Blue L1 is correct, ....What type of lighting are you trying to dim??

C is for common!!

What you using Energy saving bulbs?

Sounds like a non dimable fitting/bulbs or a faulty dimmer switch, my guess is the first.

It's got a 40w I realised i have to turn it 5 clicks before the light actually comes on to low dim..
