Hi
first post following domestic part p qualification.

ok with most stuff but still not clear who can/can't de energise so consumer unit can be changed.

SSE state only niceic authorised so this must mean that any electrician in the south or scotland must belong to niceic !? elec board /supply in my area refuse to to anything themselves. However, previous calls have contradicted this and i have been told i can pull fuse and they will replace security tag when meter next read.

How can this be so unclear? Does this mean all those consumer unit in B&Q should be clearly marked " NICEIC" fitment only?

Help!

If you go to page 2 of this section, have a look at "Breaking the tails", it might help with regard to seals.

As for cu's on sale in B&Q don't get me started on this. They are the ones who used to do a leaflet, "Rewiring your house".

Items like cu's etc should not be available for the general public to buy. Iam going to stop before I go off on a tyrade.

Hope the other thread helps.

I agree with everything Tone has said. There is lots on here about cuting seals so read through thoroughly. As for B&Q - they should stick to selling bad bedding plants!
