Help to get license to work in the UK

Hi, I am a Portuguese certified electrician, and I´m planning to go to work to the UK (with my family). I wonder if anyone can tell me what I need to do, to be able to get a license to work.
To whom should I turn for information?

Go to the embassy and customs - they will tell you how and what to do.

If you coming to the UK to work - there is not much here either at the moment and the system here is a joke.

You will have more luck going to a different country which has a demand for electricians

Welcome to the forum, what area of electrical are you familiar with... I hate to dampen your dreams a little but the housing market has been stale for a few years now and well established Electrical firms are struggling to make ends meet at the moment, im not in any way saying dont bother but im just giving you a 'heads up' as to what to expect, im not sure where you stand with your qualifications compared to ours and maybe another member can help you there!... if you do decide to take the risk i wish you good luck!
Do a bit of research and you'll find britain is now in a double dip recession and with the loom of the failing euro its not looking like there is any light at the end of what is already a long tunnel.
