Say I have a circuit that pulls 16A @ 24V how do i work out the ratio for the load at 230V?

Thanks

If we are talking linear transformer ratios then,

Power in = power out (+ losses, although less than 8% in most cases)
so
Vp.Ip = Vs.Is

Transform to give:

Vp/Vs = Is/Ip

therefore

250/25 = 15/Ip

Ip = 15/(250 * 25)

= 15/10 = 1.5A
or

250/25 = 10

or a voltage turns ratio of 10:1

You now substitute your own numbers

I'll flesh it out if you like, the circuit uses POWER, P=IxV. So your 16A @ 24V is 384W. (P=16x24). The new voltage generates the same power, so 384=Ix230. I=384/230=1.67A
