Hi guys! New on here.....just need some advice, I've pulled in a 6mm cooker supply, my customer has supplied the cooker, but the hob and main oven are wired seperate, the oven just has a plug top on, (13a) so is it safe and legal to wire both the oven and hob into my 6mm outlet, the hob pulls 5.1kw.....hope this helps...

Thanks

where did my post go opps lol ,well if you add the oven loading and the hob loading together ,then allow for diversity so say you have 7.1 kw that 7100 watts divide that by 230 to give you our total loading 30.90 amps ,take the first 10 amps then 30 % of the remainder which is 6.3 amps if there is a socket outlet on the cooker switch add 5 ampsso your total loading will be 21.27 amps which is fine , what i do is add a dual patress where to cooker outlet is the run a 4mm twin and earth to a socket outlet and connect this to the cooker connection plate with the hob cable ,using a 4mm makes it a little easier to get the cables in can be a tad aquard but works then just plug in you oven
so you end up with a cooker connection plate and socket next to each other

Why not fit and wire from the outlet plate a single socket plug the oven in, then just connect your oven. thats how I normally do it. Dont cut the plug off as this could invalidate a warenty..

Ohh yer just what nickblake says :) should really read others posts first

why do we keep getting posts on this subject...advising people to add all loads together....then take the first 10A...and 30% of whats left.....no.
treat each load individually....apply diversity to each load individually.....then add up the results......and THATS what you work on....otherwise you`l end up with woefully undersized cable and MCBs/fuses......

Not saying you're wrong, but how would you calculate diversity for an ordinary cooker with a single supply cable? Would you end up with a smaller diversified load than exactly the same oven and hob as seperate items?

Thanks 'nickblake' for all the advice! I'd rather use a connection plate just down to personal preference, I think they look neater. And I would say I'm
An improver, I have nvq level
3 and my am2

Cheers

Check the clearance between the back panel and/or terminal cover that you've removed. Look for small burn marks.
