Hi All,
I have a site that I believe will be overloading the curent supply and board main switch and would like some input to check my figures.
The client runs a software design company and useage of PC's, monitors & servers is very high. The main intake is rated at 100A BS88 fuse and the supply to the DB is via 25mm 3core swa 4 floors away - single phase.

The expected loading for the board is as follows:-
30x High grade Pc's each with 2x monitors
15x High grade Scanners
8x High grade Servers
various Fans, Chargers & Accessories
3x 3Kw Air con units
2x 2.5Kw Hand Dryers
4x Lighting circuits
2x 40" Plasma TV Screens
1x Coffee Maching
1x 7.5Kw Instantanious Water Heater
+ lots of small stupid things that they always want to plug into a mains socket.

By my calculations I am reaching my maximum loading once they have plugged in all the Pc's etc & the servers, let alone anything else!!!
Am I correct or have I missed something??

Perhaps a more relevant issue is, with this level of IT, what are the costs of losing power in down-time in the event of power loss? How much Public liability insurance have you got?

good point - I have already advised the client that the supply is not large enough - but wanted to confirm my initial thoughts.
I make the calculation based on 3amp per Pc & Twin monitor at 90amps thats without the servers running etc.

You need a 100A three phase supply at least. If the customer gets twitchy about the cost walk away rapidly. The cost of a server failure is astronomical if they can’t see that then they have no right to be in the business.

Be honest are you up to the job. If you mess up your --- is in a sling.
