Hi
Ive been self employed now for a year, most of my customers are either domestic households or builders. Now Im quite happy with my estimating procedure, but I dont normally use a set hourly rate. Generally the bigger the job the lower I go on hourly rate to ensure continuity of work.
Ive been offered work with a company who owns some care homes. Its mainly electrical maintenance jobs together with the PAT testing and Periodics. They require the work doing based on hourly rate and materials. 3 rates are required: 1) Normal planned maintenance booked in advance 2) A higher rate for urgent calls that inturrupt my normal work. 3) A higher rate again for any out of hours calls.
What do you think would be a sensible rate? the work is as good as mine as long as I dont come in at silly prices and could provide me with some steady work. I live in a fairly poor area where the rates are generally low due to a dog eat dog cutthroat mentality amongst contractors.
Thanks in advance for your help.
