Morning Forum this is my first post please be gentle. The problem i am trying to get to grips with is. I have just invested in a water well trying to do my bit for the environment. I purchased a 4" borehole pump (IRCEM) 1.5HP 1.1KW, i am also looking at fitting a presscontrol unit too, my questions to you professionals is. What would be required if i wanted to run this pump with solar energy, i am trying to see if it is feasible for me to do it, all i really want is an idea as to what is required and a approximate costings.
If anyone can help i would appreciate it.

kind regards

Antonio:confused:

Are you using the borehole pump to supply water via a presscontroller directly or will there be a storage tank and booster pump?

I would imagine a pv panel array, batteries, pure sine inverter setup would be the way to go but you would need to size the inverter to accomodate the start current of the pump/pumps.

Morning Marvo yes i will be using a borehole pump to supply a presscontroller with no storage tank. Could you help with a list of general components please, the pump i am using is a IRCEM 4" SERIES P4B, the pump itself states its a 1.5hp and a 1.1 KW. I am pretty novice to all of this, you seem to know what your talking about. when you have 5 minutes could you please talk me through it a little.

kind regards

antonio

Hi Antonio

Where are you? The reason I ask is unless you are so remote the cost of Standalone PV over a mains connection will out way the cost ten to one.

Is the pump single or three phase?

I agree with Markc, this is going to be an expensive exercise. I wouldn't be surprised if the solar system costs more than the standard pump installation. We have installed similar systems to supply potable water to very remote communities where grid power isn't an option but it's cost prohibitive where grid power exists even intermittently.

What is your motivation for wanting to run this pump on solar energy?
