Chris Prescott

Hi

can anyone help me. I have my city & Guilds 2 and was wondering what NVQ course i need to do. Is there more than one?. I do Commercial and Domestic.

Thanks

Chris.

Ah i see. Do i have to do it through a college or can i pay one of these companies i see when i google. I was told by the college it will cost ÂŁ1200 but i see it for ÂŁ550 through training providers????

Sorry , C&G level 2 2360! Thats an old one right? 2001.

I think the 2360 is no longer valid or transferable to either the 2330 or the 2356/7. shame really since you may have learn't more from the older scheme than you might with the later ones.

Its strange that even though electrical principles do not change the paperwork exercise does.
As Electrical Technology is changing with the demands of industry, lead body policy and general application, very little changes when it comes to basic electrical principles and practices. Although, it is unlikely that you will make off MI or bend Steel conduit or study to any depth motors and generators, even 3 phase principles has slipped a bit.

So I suspect you will have to start a new scheme from the start. If you can show prior evidence of practical work and exam results you may find a college that will let you complete the L2 assignments and exams while you start your L3.

You will need to do some research.

Ok so, can i call C&G and ask them if my course is transferable for level 3? I have a college ready to accept me so im guessing it is. Although i couldnt do my 17th edition quick course , i had to do the full one?????

If you have the 2360 part 2 there is no point in doing the 2330 level 3 at all.

If you want to be classed as a qualified spark you will need to do the 17th edition (city & guilds 2382) inspection & testing (city & guilds 2391) and the NVQ level 3 (2356).

Many of these courses are changing next year so be quick on enrollment if you dont want to be caught up in it all.

can i do these courses from home?

Not really no, you will have to attend some sort of training centre for the exams anyway. The 2382 is 10 odd evenings worth & the 2391 is 15 odd evenings.

I believe both courses can be done in 5 days full time also.

People have been mentioning Delta electrical training for the NVQ, but I know nothing of this company so best shop around a bit for that.
