Hi everyone am wondering if you can help me out with some advice im currenty doing pat testing yes the most boring job ever. Im wanting to get into fixed wire testing/inspection and have seen courses advertised that you can completed 17th edition and 2392 in 15 days is this actually possible? Any help will be much appreciated cheers, glen

Would i be able to complete 17th edition and 2391 as a beginner as most courses i find say that beginners courses r 17th edition and 2392 :s its all very confusing

Completing those two courses will not prepare you for I&t. You will need a varied experience of installations first. Do'nt believe what some of the course providers tell you.

Go along to your local College they may be able to help put you on the right track.

the 2382-10 is all about understanding the regs. it's open book. you just have to know where to look up the answers, 2391 is a different kettle of fish. you really need to research courses , speak to your local college, aks away on this forum and read some of the relevant past threads.

2382 is essential to anyone looking for work in the domestic field (either a job or self employed).
2391 is way beyond the scope of a beginner. It's just not a realistic hope.
2392 is the domestic single phase parts of Inspection, Test and certification.
If you are a beginner then it's realistic to teach yourself 2382 from books but not really 2392. You can do it but you will need a multi-tester and if you have that much money you may as well go on a short course - you'll learn a lot more and a lot more quickly.

Recognise that, if you are a beginner then you are learning by rote. Just memorising stuff for exams. I'm not knocking it, for many people it's the only option.

Hi Glen 3006

been reading this thread and I am little concern with the comments you used 'beginners course' How you got your 2330 then or is your background just PAT testing?

Well thats the first one you need then once you have that you can then look at what else you need.

The testing and inspection courses are also changing so advise given now may be wrong for the future
