did a tes on rcd to get the tripping times, put metrel meter on auto and it tripped the rcd but no times came up on the meter. polarity is correct and Ze is good . all terminations are good . Is it a faulty rcd even though it trips.?

Did you reset the RCD after each trip with meter the meter still connected to the circuit?

yes i reset it but it just kept doing the same thing. took the meter home and it worked perfectly

did the same test at home and the meter was set to the same parameters and it worked fine. is the rcd working at very low current or am i missing something

Do the test again and explain step by step what you did and how the instrument was set, function, range etc.
and report back.
In most cases its unlikely to be a faulty RCD or instrument which leaves the other variable in the trio of unknowns

One to hold the test instrument and another to hit the OP.....

Have you set it to the correct mA rating? it could be a 10mA,100mA etc and you have your kit set to 30mA?

same settings at home as the one that I am testing. 1 works 1 doesnt

no but I think you are on the right track. I will see what I get when I do it . maybe tripping too low. many thanks
