I just changed a DB, and when the upstairs light switch is pressed at the bottom of the stairs the RCD trips out, I have no idea why? have you guys got any ideas and if so how do I get over the problem.

The 1st thing I would say is you have some very long arms:grin:
 
LOL, okay when the upstairs landing light is switched on from the 2 gang switch at the bottom of the stairs
 
is this electric lighting or gas?

I'm guessing the upstairs and downstairs lights are now on separate rcds. Is it an incorrectly wired downstairs switch which is feeding the upstairs light from the downstairs supply and rcd but the neutral path is through the upstairs rcd?

And the short way of saying that is?
 
This is something that should be tested for before a board change ever takes place IMO.

Am i correct in saying that a borrowed neutral would also be a code 2 on a condition report?
