Hercules Alarm / Vortex Bell Box

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum as the alarm one wouldnt let me post anything.

Hello There,

I am new to this site so please bare with me.

I was wondering if anybody could help me out as I have been asked by a friend to install an alarm on his house. Now i am a qualified electrician but i dont do alarms, i have done this as a favour. So everything has been installed fine and all detectors work fine on walk test and programmed right, i just have one problem, the Vortex bell box ! I cannot figure how to make it talk with the panel for the bell ? When i test the strobe its fine but do the bell and there is no sound (I have shorted out the bell to 0-V and it does work).

So my question is, Can anyone tell me where i am goin wrong as my knowledge is not great in this field? Its on a Hercules panel bought from the wholesaler WILTS.

Any help would be most grateful.

Wez, can you give terminals markings on bell box and panel, will then work it out for you

Firstly sorry the late reply as not been near a computer for the last couple of days.


The terminals at the bell box are at the bottom and the panel is top in the pic. I have basically done it like for like to the drawing.

I dont suppose it came with a trigger resistor. Not all but some require it

There wasnt one in the packaging although i did wonder whether it would need a resistor

Hold off is ok but bell neg trig looks incorrect swop over S- and bell -rtn, so at control panel end swop black and white wires.
Would think bell -rtn is the neg tamper and S- is neg sounder trigger
