I have a friend who is a qualified spark he has wired a domestic property new board etc,the house has been a total renovation so when the work kicked off local building control cane round and inspected 1st fix,my friend has asked me to sign job off but I have declined so he's rang someone else and been given a eicr and said that would be sufficient but just wondering about a completion certificate?as far as I'm concerned this hasn't been signed off?could anyone clarify cheers in advance

An EICR is not used under any circumstances to sign off new work. You must use an EIC with correct building control notification. If he is a qualified spark why is he asking you to sign his work off?

That was my original suggestion as well as the notification would bc give the eic and test results?cant believe the guy took £100 for unnecessary and incorrect certification and no mention if notification must have travelled to the job on horseback

Thanks for reply!hes qualified but not registered!
yeah well if thats the case then dont you be used by this dummy......
i had someone who thought i was going to sign off his jobs a bit back...
told him where to go in a roundabout kind of way....
dont even know if he really got the message but...
