Hi all
About me
Currently in the army and entering my last two years so it is time to think about my future and how best to use my skills. Just hit 38 so will be 40 when i am set free with still 27 years working life in me.
What i want
Needless to say by joining this forum the idea of being a sparky greatly appeals to me, and hopefully plenty of people will offer up good advice in achieving this.
How do i intend achieving this
For those in the know in my last two years i enter restlement and can start booking training courses during work time. I intend to do this soonest and have started doing plenty of research and planning a course of action. The first thing is to get the city and guilds 2365 levels two and three, at a latter date these will be used to help achieve the 2356 diploma. Also on the to do list will be 17th edition, part P, city and guilds 2394 and 2395. This will hopefully give me enough knowledge to work for somebody and complete all the work based serials. Naturally all this stuff looks good on paper and i am under no illusions it will be hard work and counts nothing towards experiance. I also understand that i will never know everything even 20 years down the line, however we all have to start sonewhere and i want to make sure i have has much knowledge as possible. I also understand that taking the domestic route would be the easier option but that is not regarded as a sparky by many of you and i want to be a sparky
Hopefully i have clear goals and a good understanding what i need to achieve and all i need to do is use the next two years wisely.
Please can people offer their opinions as to if i am doing the right thing and going about it in the right way. I value any advice from people in the industry that can help steer me to sucess.
I have a few training providers in mind which include ableskills and tradeskills, any feedback on these would be useful or any other providers that take ELCAS. I have three years worth available to me to the value of ÂŁ2000 each year
I look forward to peoples responses and thank everybody in advance
Rob
