Hi my name is Alfred and just changed careers to become an electrician. Its good to be a part of a profession I have always admired.
i would love to take on board all the advice i can get an also learn new skills.

I have registered to take formal qualifications as an electrician in Jan but would like some information on working as an electricians mate.

thank you all.

Welcome to the forum.
Finding work as an electricians mate can be hard work as there is a lot of competition about.
The employer would expect you to have some level of practical competence in building work for electrical installations.
You should not be expected to do any design or calculations and the majority of your work, if it involves, electrical connections should be closely supervised.
