Welcome to Electricians Forum | Electrical Advice Forum | An electrical forum for electricians in the UK!

Welcome to electriciansforums.net SPUD. Thanks for introducing yourself.

Welcome, qualifications are obviously the only way to go. I think as a bare minimum you need your 17th edition and test & inspection.

A good way to get started is to do your city and guilds 2330 level 2 & 3 with your NVQ level 3 (if you are lucky enough to be employed) running alonside your 2330 level 3.

You say you have done some domestic work so I assume you enjoyed it. I got into this game 2/3 years ago after been a regional manager for a large electrical retailer and knew I would just love it and go to work with a smile on my face everyday.......

In reality I hate just about every day and have to drag myself out of bed, work in the cold and wet, have taken a pay cut, no longer get to drive around in a flashy car.... the list could go on, but I wouldn't change a thing, the people you meet on site are mostly great guys, the weather sometimes gets good and the mornings get easier.

I do really love what I do.

Thanks everyone,
I've been looking into C&G 2382 17th edition at our local college, and I can enroll on the 26th this month if I am quick.
I enjoy both the domestic and marine side of the electrics, its just a shame I cant be more involved as I have to over see all aspects of engineering as a supervisor.
