I am rewiring my own house and will be cutting the seal on the meter to change the tails to the new dist board. I am a time served electrician with lots of domestic experience and have rewired hundreds of houses, I am not going to pay 200-300 quid to my local council so some numpty who has taken a 5 week course can inspect my work. I refuse to let the council in to the house to even look at what has been done, Has anyone got a problem with this? thanks for reading this post, my nick name is Fluck the schemes.com :dita: I await your valued input and serious advice.

I won't even let the meter reader into the house, they need to make an appointment which suits me at a time of my convenience, the council will never get in here so why should I pay for them to come in for a look at my new shiny Fuse board? fluck em

Good luck with that one.

Hope you've brought plenty of sandwiches and Creamflow - it could be a long wait ;)

I'm with OVO energy for my gas & leccy and send my own readings to them online every month, but they still insist on sending a bloke to my door and every time I tell I can't see the point in him doing something that I have already done and tell him to go away and he does.

Besides, I really don't want him to see that gas meter .... :uhoh2::ninja:

Gas meter? What’s a gas meter?

I changed the board in my house 10 years ago-the meter is located next to it in a locked passageway so usually out of sight from the meter reader. Siemens came round a few years ago to replace the meter on a scheduled replacement, didn't question the lack of seal nor the fact the mechanical economy 7 clock was 9 hours out! 'Nothing to do with me mate' wink smilie

Had my meter loved about a year ago, had new tails run into meter cupboard ready. Lads came moved meter, fitted isolator and connected new tails. I hadn't fitted cu yet as too many other building jobs to do. Meter bloke said as you're not ready I'll leave main fuse in the meter cupboard, just slot it in when ready. It only got sealed when EON came and fitted new meter last month. They didn't even question it.

I have a quiet affection for my my electricity meter, but that's going a bit far!
