I currently run a pub and we have a couple in the group. I have just recently qualified as a domestic installer with NCS as well as doing my 2392.

We are needing to get our fixed wiring certificates done which I am now able to do but which would be the best overseeing body to join and the best way to go about this?

Look forward to hearing from you all.

no real difference but last time I checked NICEIC was a bit more expensive, but I think there gonna bring them all into line with the new "electrical safety register" do you have any other qualifications or experience?

If all you're doing is a condition report then as Toonlad says you don't need to be a member of a scam. What you do need is a good knowledge of the regs and a thorough knowledge of testing procedures. You'll only need to be scammed up if you're unleashing yourself on the public and doing notifiable work.

unleashing yourself on the public and doing notifiable work in domestic situations. in OP's case, if there's living accom. in the building, supplied from the same meter, then yes.

I am looking to expand from there I have a good knowledge of regs and am good at testing will be doing some other work as well. So was looking for a scheme that would cover both notifiable work and condition reports as they have to be issued to respect insurance and brewery's. Have looked at ELECSA. Any views on them?

elecsa seems to be the most favoured by most sparks, but you will find that councils and the like prefer to specify niceic for any works that they are involved in, schools, public buildings etc.

Great will look at which ones are best for the area I am in and go from there. I have also heard good reports about ELECSA. Thanks very much

I would get yourself enrolled on the 2394/2395 courses first. 2392 is only a level 2 qualification.

But, i'm with elecsa...price is ridiculous at £400 a year, but the assessor is a decent bloke and im generally happy ( as can be ) with the service they provide.

Have also done 2391 sorry, missed that out in the beginning. But am looking to do 2394/2395 as well as they are the replacements. Yeah did notice the price tag, but so times you get what you pay for? Have heard good about them all, but ELECSA does come up trumps.

Don't bother with the 2394/2395 if you've got the 2391. Pointless, unless you want to brush up with more knowledge and add a few extra qualifications (if you've got the cash to throw away that is)

Well none of the scams really give you value for money - stroma are like £200 cheaper, but nobody has ever heard of them and although they are a recognised scheme, joe public don't recognise the name so to the working spark it's abit tricky to deal with them.

All i can say is, i personally am happy with Elecsa.

If you have 2391 why bother doing the replacement? That would be like me thinking "oh I'd best go and do 2330 and whatever it's been replaced by as I don't have them"

You only need to switch the lines and the contactor is rated per pole so for example a 16A four pole contactor would be fine.
