I came across the site when I have been doing to research into a career change (or back to my original one..) After school I when to college and did level 2 NVQ's and GNVQ's in electrical and mechanical engineering, then chose a career in retail management . Over the last few weeks I have been looking at places to do my Part P and 17th Edition, the local place I have found doesn't start till September and then it's evenings which I have no problem with. I am now looking what I could be doing to give myself more experience/knowledge. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Regards James

agree with above. those courses are mickey mouse.dragging the trade down to the " i want it now, and i want it cheap" boil in the bag house bashers. that'a all you'd ever become.

Part P is a Building Regulation, not an Electrical course, of course the training establishments will advertise it as such. The 17th Edition Update course is aimed at qualified experienced Electricians, to enable them to understand the changes in BS 7671, far too many people passing this qualification immediately, think, wrongly that this qualification makes them an Electrician, oh and the exam is an open book exam, all the course does is helping you find out where the answers to exam questions are in BS7671, if you can read you can pass this exam. Sorry be so blunt but sadly that's the fact these days farcical when you analise it.
