Hi just wondering if sum1 cud help.

Im self employed with 17th edition but no 2391 but i am fully capable of testing and i am just about 2 apply to join the NICEIC so here is my question :- before i am in the NIC am i able to carry out Periodic inspections an give out the certificate? i have calibrated megger tester and all the certificate software so above board on that part

so if any1 cud help answer this 4 me it wud b much appreciated

niceic will need a competent person with a recognised QUALIFICATION ie 2391 to sign these certificates have a chat with niceic their allways happy to help ??? go on get on the 2391 course good luck
 
Hi phase2phase,

I asked a similar question a few days ago and as it is at the moment: you don't need any qualifications
at all to do a PIR. This is a bit of a grey area I think. If I remember right JasonS told me this, but I can't
find the thread anymore.

ok thanks guys i wil explain to the customer that i can do the periodic just that it wont b thru a scheme but its stil all legit

Hi lee you dont actually need to have your 2391 to be with NICEIC they just need to watch you test;)

NICEIC do not require you to have 2391 for PIR.
They actually run a course on PIR using computer simulations.
If you register with them as a Domestic Installer, do their PIR course (about £700 I think) - and pay an additional subscription of about £400, they will register you for PIRs.
I dont know whether this is a new development.

I had been under the impression until yesterday that NICEIC required the 2391!!:)
