Hi To Everyone

I have been looking at a load of posts for a while now and am taking the plunge by way of this introduction.

I am in my mid fifties a Fitter and turner by trade and live in the Midlands, my last few jobs were in the servicing industry but also have other experience’s, I have been out the loop for a few years due to a health problem, and seeing I am going to have to work until I am Seventy or more, I am raring to go again and want to become an qualified Electrician, I have looked at a few courses, but I am very wary after doing a computer course a few years back, that I am still paying for as they did not keep there word on a job offer after passing the course.

I am prepared to do just about any course or courses ie: work from home or away class courses short or long in resent times I heard that computer E learning courses are being used; I am even prepared to do another Apprentership as long as I can get the working experiences I will need or a job out of it all, and not just another bunch of qualifications that I cannot or will not use, even if a bit of knowledge never hurts you, I know I will most probably need: C&G, 2330,2382,2391,2392,2377, and EAL Domestic Installers Qualification and maybe others if I go industrial: I would like to do this in a working environment as I find hands on is always the best.

Enough from me, I would appreciate any and all, input, help, advice, or introductions.

Again Hi to Everyone with thanks.

Welcome along.:D

You wouldn't neccesarily need to do both the 2392 and 2391 courses. The 2392 was introduced as a stepping stone to the 2391 as the fail rate is so high. However if you are confident in your ability then there is no reason not to go straight in for the 2391.

The 2392 enables you to inspect, test and sign off your own work, whereas the 2391 enables you to inspect, test and sign off anyones work and carry out PIR's.

Hi
Like you i have changed trades in the recent years going from a textile engineer into the Food industry cor what a change that was! right back to the question, I have just finished my C & G 2330 level 2 and 3, had the go ahead from work to do an NVQ3 which should allow me to get a JIB card then onto the 17th Edition and then to the 2391. this is the route that im going down. regards and good luck.
