went to work with a dude yesterday and there was hi tuff cable for cctv been choped in half which had been buried about 100mm under ground.

i told him hi tuff shouldnt be buried underground, am i correct in saying this???? and reccomended he used swa.

no wasnt in ducting, for a 35 meter run. anyway i installed the swa and bonded the gland to the earth connection via lug at supply end is this correct. i just doubt myself , he kind of threw me in and left me to it,..

another one, when i went to cef they only had ip rated plastic connection boxes..

Then if there was no mechanical protection then reg 522.8.11 have a read of it it I=p/u for buried cable.

Yes as long as you were not using the SWA of the armour for the CPC then just earth the SWA at the origin for earth protection.

You could have used a wiska box, why are you worried about just using a plastic box??

cheers will have good read when the new book comes out as i never bought the red one, due to green one in pipeline...

as regards to the plastic box it had rubber seals where the cable entered wich wouldnt of kept the integrity of the ip 55 rating.. and thge swa gland wasnt that tight. but as tight and secure as i could get it with my gread ideas.lol
