Hi all

I have been asked to wire out a 100ft x 50ft Agricultural barn, can anyone advise me on when to use High bays and when to use Low bays. I assume there must be a specified height which dictates which one is most suitable.

Thanks

personally i would use IP rated floods as barns come under special locations so will be required to be IP rated im not sure on IP ratings for high and low bays

The exact use of the barn is important to selection of equipment-is it livestock/combustible materials etc.?

The minimum IP requirement for luminaires is IP54 and compliance with BS 60598.

All circuits other than socket outlets must have 300 mA RCD protection.

Check the luminaire heat ratings if mounting on combustible material.

This is a brief overview of the different high/low bay lighting systems to help you decide!
