Hi everyone,

I've been a member of the forum for ages now but never really contributed so thought I should offer to return the favour.
I spent 7-8 years general contracting but have spent the last year thrown in at the deep end in my current in-house maintenance / engineering role in a metal surface treatment, finishing and test centre. I've had to learn a hell of a lot in the last year and have a fair bit of knowledge in the following should anyone want info:

Industrial rectification & control systems
Process heating
Chemical handling & treatment systems
PLCs
Motor drives
None PLC control gear (Loop controllers, PID etc)
And plenty of none electrical kit.

So feel free to ask if you ever get called out to something a bit out of the ordinary.

Would you elaborate a bit more please? I spent 35 years doing the same and it’s a vast subject.

After 1 year I was still getting lost in the plants, never mind saying I fully understood them.

I'm not claiming to be a no it all or expert in anyway. As you point out a year is not alot of time in the industry and I still have a lot of learning to do, and will hopefully always continue learning. But there is always a chance I may have previously dealt with a problem someone else may be tackling for the first time whether they have 35 years experience or 1 year, if I can help I will.

If however this forum is more about dismissing the new guy as useless then I will glady refrain from using it.

There are many topics that help is always welcome. It’s good to have someone that’s made the break from domestic to industrial, at least you’ve seen both sides.
