Hi all in the forum
A tea time discussion has created a non decisive answer, and there is a cup of tea swinging on the solution.
When testing an rcd, should the protective bonding conductors be disconnected? We have agreed to accept the general consensus of this forum as our decisive answer.
Thaks in advance for this bit of nonsence
Kind Regards
JohnC

I'm failing to see how anyone could come up with this idea in the first place?? So what is the argument for disconnecting the bonding conductors to undertake RCD device testing???

I can't see that it would make any difference, to the RCD test.
However if you were to do such during the practical exam for 2391/2/4/5, I would expect you to fail for unsafe practices.
No installation should be energised with any earthing or bonding conductors disconnected.
