BBC News - Home Information Packs scrapped

As of today the Home Information Pack is history, so the new government says. There was never a strict requirement for an electrical safety certificate as part of the HIP but it was a good lever to pull.

Will the demise of HIPs affect our test & inspection business? Will it impact on the Part P scheme?

Any thoughts?

Though they are keeping that stupid energy survey thing, got to be seen to be trying to save the world from ourselves I've been into so many houses that have just been bought I mention a PIR customer says whats one of those, they soon find out when you condemn there electrical installation, don't think it's going to have much of an impact to be honest.

A lot of house purchasers are often asked by the conveyancing solicitor about checks on electrics and central heating most don't get it done if there is no obvious reason as it costs

Spent a lot of time doing PIR's for house buyers back in the late 70's early 80's but the work died off

Most of the time they had it done to talk down the price but maybe with the way the housing market went there was no bargaining power with a PIR and a list of faults as there was always someone to pay the asking price
