No I'm doing the foundation degree at college/university only because I thought the maths might get the better of me but on reflection I think I would have been alright doing distance learning. The thing with distance learning you have to be strict with yourself there is nobody pushing you apart from yourself. Good Luck

Hi, i am also wanting to do a hnc. how longs your course on for and do i need to go through ucas to do it. is your course part time?

Hi, I am doing mine by distance learning via HNC Engineering Courses, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Open Learning, Distance Learning - COLU It involves 8 modules and can take up to 5 years although you can do it a lot quicker. If you go to a local college it is normally 2 years part time on day release and invloves 10 units (5 per year} a HND is 2 years full time. You don't go through ucas. Hope this has been some help. I would ask at your local college for more help, they are there to help you. Good Luck

Thanks gdr7671. sorry to bother you again but whats the difference between a hnc and hnd. thanks
An hnc is a certificate, hnd is diploma. They are of the same academic standard but the diploma has more units. If you have just done your C&G 2330 your maths won't be sufficient you will have to do a bridging course. Have you thought of an ONC or OND? What are your current qualifications? Thanks

ive done my 17th edition and wanting to do my inspection and test in the new year. I only have my GCSE's as well which i got a B in maths. what's an ONC and OND?

I suggest you do your 2391-10 in January, 2391-20 in April, then enroll on an ordinary national certificate (onc) day release for 2 years in September. This will set you up for life in a professional job. In the summer break you could do 2377-001 and 2377-002. Ask at your local college about fees first. Cheers gdr.
