steve-

Evening all,

Just wondered if anyone was contemplating doing a HNC in electrical engineering/building services engineering? and maybe some advice if you have already chosen this route?

I am a 20 year old time served qaulified electrician with alot of drive so id rather knuckle down and get as far as i can while i still have the freedom to do so!
Have sucessfully done my 2391 testing and inspection, passed my elecsa assessment last week inorder to sign off my own weekend and evening work and am working full time as an electrician installing crestron control systems and high end domestics.

Im not too sure of whats options i have, but definately want to achieve some sort of engineering career.

Advice welcomed!

Thanks.
Steve.

Hi Steve,

Im currently in the first year of a Building Services Engineering HNC, Im finding it very intersting and helpful although obviously as this is Building Services then the modules can range from Management to Air Conditioning to CAD. If your looking to work in a design office or maybe want to carry on with your studies and achieve a Degree you can become a Chartered Building Services Engineer with some work put in.

I chose Building Services over an Electrical/Electronic HNC because I found most of the Electrical HNCs were Electronically biased, which doesn't really interest me. Building Services definitley gives you a grounding and respect for all other trades and areas of Business.

There's only really so many Electrical qualifications you can do before going into Higher Education (HNC, Degree etc.)

Any more info, just ask and good luck.

Ross.
