Discuss hnc opinions in the Electrician Courses : Electrical Quals area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have done the hnd and found it very interesting depends what direction you want to go in work to whether you need it, I now just do domestic installs at the moment so little use to me!

well i work mainly with generators from 5kVA to 200kVA but i also 'sync the gensets' to provide more power for an application using a software programme called comAP. the other things i do is general maintenence on all of our 3 phase distribution kit and make the larger cabling like 125a 3 phase. so im not sure wether to go down the hnc route or the inspection and testing/am2

In general the more qualifications you have the better. Some sparks love their work and never want to do anythink esle.

I have met many old sparks who would love to get an office job and it is always lack of qualifications that hold them back.

we cannot decide, i could get on fine going down the 17th, am2 and inspection and testing but the hnc/hnd looks great on a cv etc along with the other 3 quals
