just got the home report of house we are buying under Electrical system it says "fusebox" when theres not a fuse in sight mcbs and rcds It also says Electrical system should be testeed every 5 years to conform to current standards
I phoned them to ask what the current standards state 5years but hey ho I got cut off in the transfer telephone PILLOCKS just makes me wonder if thats not correct what else isnt right about the report ??

A friend of mine is buying his first house and asked me to look at his survey. It just has a tick next to Electrical Installation.
I've popped my nose in to see if their are any things that should be brought up and there are many that need observation to name a couple:
No main protective bonding to gas service,
No CPC to lighting with 4 x class 1 fittings installed,
BS 3036 fuses installed, with no further consideration to 415.1.

I rang the estate agent on his behalf to find out to what extent is the survey carried out on the electrical installation in the house and I kid you not, the response I got was..

'we just check that it has one'.

Id prefer to be told that than some nuggat gettin payed a fortune to give wrong information out rather correct or none at all than duff questionable crapola its not going to stop me buying the house it is however making me wonder when I come to sell it will the home report staTE THE SAME ??
