Attended a job today to install an electric towel radiator to an existing flex outlet, nice and easy i thought?
Got there had a look round new dual rcd board, bonding to gas & water all ok just been installed, so i fix the rad to the wall connect up and start testing get a good earth fault loop and procced to RCD test to find that the rcd doesn't trip not even on 5x, investigate the consumer unit and as you can see in the picture the bus bar has not been cut back out of the main switch completely by passing the rcd (even though the sticker on the bus bar tells you to cut it out when two rcds are used) sort out that little problem and find that the rcd won't reset a little fault finding to discover the lighting circuit has a dead short n-e, getting very upset at this moment i ask the client if they provided a certificate for the works, she replied yes and shows me a peroidic inspection certificate which my apprentice could of filled out more accurately, disconnected the lighting circuit going back tomorrow to sort, haven't decided what action to take or advise the client?????
Just hope one day i will look at an installation and think well done lads you really have done a nice job here???
