Spent Thursday to Monday getting some much-needed practical experience. Thursday second-fixing on a "posh flats" project (cheers Paul.M!), and Friday to Monday on a lived-in rewire. Feeling a bit achey, but still buzzin'. :)

Things I have learnt:

- Automatic wire strippers... where have you been all my life?!?
- Earth sleeving tied to the top of your ladders, long enough to reach the ceiling - saves time hunting around in pockets.
- Battery tools are ace. No trailing wires.
- These wood bits (in combination with an impact driver) eat through joists.
- Utility bar useful for lifting up floorboards.
- Ceiling roses terminated at 11pm are not done quite as neatly as those done in my shed.
- If summat's in t'way: bray it wi' that!

Almost forgot...: Allsaw - very, very quick. A bit awkward for doing boxes, but a chase up the wall, it saves loads of time.

Ive never seen of those before... Looks a great bit of kit

The electrician I was working for hired it, first time he'd done so. After using it for the first chase, he said, "I have GOT to get one of these!"

Got to be better than inhaling half a wall like you do when you use an angle grinder without a hoover attached, think i might talk my mate into hiring one

"Posh flats", well thats what they are lol. It was good to have you on that site Steve, easier than a lived in rewire is'nt it??? Open invite for tomorrow or Saturday and I will show you how to terminate 4 x t&e + 2 x 3 core with loop in at switches in a single backbox! Yes it is possible before people ask.

Wire strippers, aren't they good when you have a load of 2nd fixing to do  Correct tool for the job, make it easy for yourself.

Earth sheathing tied to the top of the ladder. Another good tip is to cable tie the reel of earth sheathing to the ladder and pull off what you need per fitting. No loose ends trailing on the floor. Also use the ladder holes on the top has your tool carrier (picture to follow).

Glad you enjoyed yourself Steve, it was a good day and you did very well (without sounding condescending). Your welcome on any of my sites in the future, great effort from you and a very good job done. Just wish one of the other lads on site had your talent and enthusiasm for our industry.
