Hi everyone new to this site thought i would join as i am hoping to buy a new family home in the near future. It is about 150years old and is in need of some work one off which is needing a full re wire as there will be other work ongoing at the same time it will be more or less a building site so no need to worry about mess etc.. also some of the walls will be getting stripped and new plaster board fitted so I am looking for any advice, help, also anyone who knows of a good sparky in central scotland area falkirk/stirling/dunfermline etc.. also does anyone know what sort of money this would cost. The house is a large 3 bedroom house.

Obviously not seeing the property its difficult to tell but on past experience you're probably looking, ballpark, around 4 or 5 grand. Depends really if you are gutting the whole house and starting again! Obviously this would be the cheapest way but if you are staying in the house that makes the job a bit 'bitty' meaning numerous trips and a bit of hassle trying to keep power on for you to use.

Staying in the property when having it re-wired makes the job a lot less flexible for the sparky so that figure I quoted probably wouldn't be far away!

Also depends on how Hi-tec you want it as in media streaming(CAT 5 or 6 points in the house), Sky television throughout or just freeview, Sonos or ome type of music system throughout although this can be done through your media streaming!

All these things add more cost. Very few houses nowadays just require your usual pendant in a room and 4 sockets with a TV/phone point.

Just MO

Cheers
