B

bugsy

I have a septic tank which is worked by a pump on a ballcock type of basis. There is electricity geting to the device because I touched the top of the balllcock arm and got a shock. The weighton the ballcock device which sets the electric pump going when the tank is full has disapeard and I pushed it down to pump out the water and it did not work. I can not her the pump going either.

Classic!

"i pushed it down to pump out the water"...on a septic tank?..hmm wont have been the only thing it was trying to pump out either......well if you do go and sort it out for him....just be sure he washes his hands first before handing over the notes.....with habits like these....:dizzy2:

Eeek, ummmm, Im not an assertive person but public wet wells (same sort of s**t) are classed as zone 2, EXPLOSION is PROBABLY UNLIKELY.

Methane..explosive and asphyxiating

H2S explosive and asphyxiating.

The cables supplying the floats (your ballcock..?)....These are intrinsically safe cables , i.e. less than half a volt. If there is a fault there wil be no spark.

Is the area you inspect it through big enough for you to fall in if you were overcome, as Im guessing you have no gas detector.

Sorry if Im being alarmist, just food for thought, get on to the installers and seek specialist advice, maybe its just me, all Im saying is be carefull.
