Have been asked to advise on possible re-use or rewire of cables in commercial premises. There are three stories and customer is interested in middle floor. These have concrete floors and ceilings. I can see cables for lighting points coming directly out of the ceiling. How would they have been installed in there? Is there usually a way of gaining access to these cables? I can see no evidence on the floor of access points or channels for the lights on the floor below. Will the cables have been cast into the concrete? Or should I be looking harder for access points to a hidden channel?

probably in steel conduit. try shoving a nylon fish through, see how far it goes.
