how do i take the next step? help please

i am a 17th qualified sparks and am currently working self employed. i want to start doing my own bits but not sure what i have to do with regards to testing and NICEIC. i am currently testing at my job now but it is on behalf of the company i am working not myself.

To do commercial or industrial there is nothing restricting you other than the preferences of the client who may want a registration body
Domestic work comes under part p building regs where some jobs are notifiable to building control
Non notifiable you can get on with it
Notifiable work has to be through building control (+fee)or self certificating by paying to join a scheme and doing the notification yourself
The Niceic has no bearing on the issue other than if you wished to be part of their organisation

Quite a lot of sparks (illegally) have ignored all the above issues
