Hi,

Can you guys spot / point out the things that are wrong here? There are two fuse-boards for a "One-room flat".

Thanks!

Re: How many things aren't right her?

Are we on commision? ;)

Earthing/bonding is a bit of a mess. Can't quite tell, is that a TNS earth connection just off the bottom of the pic? It looks to be connected to that pipe rather than an MET and it looks like the second pic CU's earth bar is being used as an MET (but if it is then the earth should be directly connected to it and not via a pipe). Are they both on the same phase (it looks like a single phase). I'd prefer to see one MET external to the CU's.

I can't see what those connector blocks are joining but they shouldn't be left floating around in the CU like they are (assuming they're suitably rated).

Another example of trained monkey wiring needing a 10 minute makeover.

non-compliant labelling
Lack of glands in the top of both enclosures
Well ropey looking earthing arrangement and corrosion on that steel conduit.
Earths cut off completely
Cabling and tails not secured
cables stripped too far back hance semi stripped cabling outside of the enclosures.
Neutrals not on a neutral bar

There's probably more, why you only want two?

Basically as above the disused conduit appeares to be functioning as some kind of MET and badly made off cables coming into the top of CU in pic 3....No clipping evident and the grey tails in pic 1 not given identification (ringed)..........

It’s a TNS system.

  1. A rusty iron pipe (conduit) was used as MET
  2. Cables were hanging everywhere and not clamped.
  3. Two lighting circuits on one 5A MCB
  4. Totally two different fuse-boards serving a one-room flat
  5. No identification of circuits other than numbers on the WYLEX board and no complaint-labels.
  6. Can’t figure out at the moment where the bunch of earth cable at the top (first Pic.) go to
Don’t know yet, I may find more if I dig deep into it. Looks like the job done by one those builders; 200 pounds cash on hand.

Thanks for looking!
